Below are very special bucks that are no longer with us, but are always in my heart!
We suffered a tragic poisoning in the buck pen after moving the boys to a new pasture at our new property around holidays 2021/2022. We lost our beloved Encore, Renaissance Man, our lovely new herdsire Dublin, we later lost Justin as well due to kidney damage. Necropsies, organ testing, & blood testing eventually determined the poisoning but not in time to save these boys. Music Man was our surviving mature buck in that pen and is doing wonderful after months of treatment. Bucks beneath this msg are here in remembrance of the beloved, wonderful boys that are still in my heart. I still cry every time I scroll past this msg... I highly advise having blood work with mineral testing thru Michigan State University Vet Med Lab done on live animals and necropsies/organ mineral testing done on any deceased animals in your herd to see where their levels are before doing what many consider 'routine maintenance/supplements'...even if your management has worked perfectly in your previous property, get your water, soil, and herd rechecked once you move to a new property, BEFORE doing any supplements. Had we used another lab and not gone thru Michigan State Univ Lab, we would not have found the reason for the poisoning. They test for more than other labs do: The Primary Trace Nutrient Panel (50701) is run on serum samples using Royal Blue Top collection tubes & requires your vet to spin down your samples before mailing. It includes testing for cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, and zinc.

I just love this buck more than I could ever explain. Every day I feel so blessed to have him join our herd & honored to be his forever home. He is SO sweet & gentle & gorgeous too. Encore joined our herd in 2017 from a dear friend & his original home in California. His daughters here are GORGEOUS! I'm beyond thrilled!
Encore is incredibly long bodied with a long loin. He stands on good strong straight legs, nice rear leg angulation, sharp shoulders, wide open ribbing, very strong level 'table top' topline that he stamps on all his offspring. He has a beautiful face, gentle eye, small well set ears, strong broad muzzle & jaw. Based on his large variety of full & 1/2 siblings and on the mammary of his dam, I would expect this buck to consistently produce improved very high rear udder with strong rear udder width and medial division, good foreudder.
